Insights on current industry trends

When I went to SCAD for VFX, I had high expectations for what I expected to learn. At the end of junior year, I instead was taught basic outdated skills, and I knew I needed to learn the right skills because I wasn't sure what I'd learn in senior year and I knew what skills the industry expected.

So, I took 3D modeling courses online and watched many YouTube tutorials on those specific skills, teaching myself the necessary skills for the industry.

Then with my passion for VFX, I went above and beyond and created industry level work such as the Honda Civic Transformer. People called me crazy, but THAT'S what got me hired, not student work.

Watch the first two parts for free
Get a glimpse of the course where I talk about the differences between art school and the industry, the fifty page document I wrote, and what type of work you should be focused on. There are 20 parts total, but here's the first two for free.
This course covers many VFX roles such as 3D modeling, look-dev texturing, lighting, FX, rendering, and compositing. The course primarily focuses more on the skills of a 3D Generalist in the industry and dives deeper into 3D modeling, texturing, and lighting.
This course is not necessarily meant to be followed along, but instead more of a sit back, relax, learn and enjoy course.
In the future, I may add more content to this course. I do feel there is much more to be taught and opportunities to learn more about VFX in this course.
I wanted to make a straight forward, to the point, no fluff video course that helps inform you of the skills and advice you should know for the industry. Although this is not a masterclass, this course shows you what art school may not teach VFX students and what you should know in just an hour, for now.
